THE ELECTION MEETING

IT was before the elections. The town had invited all candidates to address citizens in the city hall.

Nasrudin was invited, as an exotic local character, to entertain. When all three candidates had spoken, the mulla mounted the plateform and said: “I have come here to offer you my own, special recipe. Make a note of this, and try it on yourselves.”
He went on to say that certain quantities of honey , garlic and fish were to be boiled together and then eaten.

Quite a number of people tried the recipe. The taste was horrible. Several of them stormed Nasrudin’s house, wanting to know what he meant by such a trick.

“well,” said mulla Nasrudin , “I didn’t say I liked it, in fact , I had not tried it on myself. But it seemed such a good idea to me, I wanted to see whether it would work. That’s what
election candidates do, isn't it?

Tyranny of the majority:
AT one position in his life, the entire population of his village had had enough of the pleasantries and confusions of Mulla Nasrudin.

They all went to the magistrate, and he gave a ruling:”Nasrudin,by the will of the people I have to declare that you must leave the village.”

“are they unanimous?” asked the Mulla. “yes, I am afraid so.” “then I refuse to go . there are plenty of them and only one of me. If they don’t like the village as it is , they can leave and build another one. But I, a single individual, how can I even start to build one small house for myself elsewhere?”

IN ITS SEASON

A calamity that appears today will sooner or later disappear. After all, nothing that belongs to this world or happens here is everlasting. A person who is exceptionally cruel today may later on, due to some serious circumstances, be moved to kindness. If I remain in a stage of patience, it helps me to understand why events were delayed and you avoid making the same mistake in the future.

If I am too anxious for the result of something to come about, it is just like trying to eat unripe fruit. Time will change me and everything around me, but I cannot change time, so why get myself upset and annoyed? Everything happens according to its own time and season. I cannot hope to pick mangoes out of season when the tree has not even flowered, but there is much enjoyment in tasting the first fruit of the season. Am I so arrogant that I feel everything and everyone else must fit into my timetable? Am I so foolish as to believe that my life and state of mind are an accurate yardstick by which everything else can be assessed and judged?

It would be good to realize that each of us is different and to adjust to the ever changing scenes of life. I must learn to accept as well as appreciate those differences, and mould myself accordingly.

VARIETYSHOW

Today I am going to experiment and make an effort to see at least one virtue in every person with whom I come into contact. I know that no one is perfect, so why dwell on anyone’s defects? If I actively search for goodness in others it can be found.

If I m thinking about someone’s weakness or defect, I may become uneasy and irritated. I feel annoyed and wonder, “why does this person have to be this way?” and “why does this person do such and such a thing all the time?” if I am thinking about someone’s good qualities, I begin to feel lightness and ease in my mind. Then I am influenced by the sweetness of that person.

LAWS OF LIFE

I once had a friend who was dean of a very prestigious school. He planned and saved for years to provide his son the opportunity to attend that institution but the boy refused to go.

Graduating from that particular school would have been a great asset to the boy. Besides, it was a family tradition. The father pleaded and urged and talked. He also tried to listen to the boy to understand him, all the while hoping that the son would change his mind. The subtle message being communicated was one of conditional love. The son felt that in a sense the father’s desire for him to attend the school outweighed the value he placed on him as a person and a son.

After some intense soul searching, the father decided to make a searching- to renounce conditional love. He knew that his son might choose differently than he had wished; nevertheless, he and his wife resolved to love their son unconditionally, regardless of his choice. It was an extremely difficult thing to do because the value of his educational experience was so close to their hearts and because it was something they had planned and worked for since his birth.

The parents went through a difficult time. They communicated to the boy that his decision would not affect their unconditional love for him and they were not doing this to manipulate him or get him to ‘to shape up’.

The boy didn’t give much of a response at first, but a short time later when he felt he no longer had to defend his position he searched within himself more deeply. He founded that he really did want to have this educational experience. He applied for admission and then told his father who again showed unconditional love by accepting his son’s decision. My friend was happy but not excessively so, because he had truly learned to love without condition.

MY OWN LITTLE SELF

Obstinate are the trammels but my heart aches when I try to break them.

Freedom is all I want ,but to hope for it feel ashamed.

I am certain that priceless wealth is in thee and that thou art my best friend, but I have not the heart to sweep away the tinsel that fills my room.

The shroud that covers me is a shroud of dust and death; I hate it, yet hug it in love.

My debts are large, my failures great, my shame secret and heavy; yet when I come to ask for my good, I quake in fear lest my prayer be granted.

He whom I enclose with my name is weeping in this dungeon. I am every busy building this wall all around;and as this wall goes up into the sky day to day I lose sight of my true being in its dark shadow.

I take pride in this great wall, and I plaster it with dust and sand lest hole should be left in this name; and for all the care I take I lose sight of my true being.

I came out alone on my way to my tryst. But who is this that follows me in the silent dark?

I move aside to avoid his presence but I escape him not.

He makes the dust rise from the earth with his swagger; he
adds his loud voice to every word that I utter.

He is my own little self, my lord but I m ashamed to come to thy door in his company.

By all means they try to hold me secure who love me in this world. But it is otherwise with thy love, which is greater than theirs, and thou keepest me free.

Lest I forget them they never venture to leave me alone. But day passes by after day and thou art not seen.

THE TIME MANAGEMENT

What is it?

n It is not about making people work harder

n It's about working 'smarter'

n Increasing efficiency & effectiveness

n Reducing stress

n "Managing" rather than "Reacting"

Time Management Defined

n Time management is best thought of as "self-management", the skill of making smart decisions about how to allocate one's time and energy to articulated goals.

Why is time management important?

n Personal skill useful over a lifetime

n People who use these techniques routinely are the highest achievers in all walks of life

The Time Paradox

¦ Time is a scarce resource. It is irreplaceable and irreversible

¦ To save time you must spend some time

¦ If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail

A lot of people complain that they don't have enough time whereas it is the most equally shared resource that exists in the world.

¦ 1 day equals 24 hours for everybody

¦ We can't store time

¦ We can't buy time

'Golden' Rules

n Be positive !

n Your time is valuable

n Set targets

n Plan

n Organize

n Prioritize

n Learn to say NO !

Prioritize

A activities have top priority—must do

B items have medium priority—good but not essential

C items have low priority—can survive without them

Time Audits

n The first stage is normally to conduct a 'time audit'

n Sit down and see how you use your time at the moment, e.g. Keep an hour by hour diary for a week to track your time use.

n Use this as a basis for planning.

Identifying time Robbers

n Lack of forward planning

n Getting bogged down in details

n Imprecise goals and targets

n Drop-In Visitors

n Force of Habit

n Crisis Management

n Working at the wrong time

n Working in a poor environment

Some tips on using time...

n Set interim deadlines.

n They provide ongoing feedback and motivation.

n They can tell you when you need to adjust your plan.

Getting it Done,

On Time!

Murphy's Law….

What Can Go Wrong Will Go Wrong

So Make Time For It!

Time Management Methodologies

Reading Skills: Speed Reading, Effective Reading

Writing Skills: Clear and focused writing skills

Listening and Communication Skills

Waiting Time

Delay Time: Positive and Negative Delay

Meetings

Delegation

The Point!

n Even though there are common statements we can make about students' time use, time management is a very personal activity.

Manage your own time: compare you with you!

Think: how long does it take me to do this kind of task? How long will I spend doing this task? What priority will I assign to this task?

Time Management Principles

Pareto Principle -The 80/20 Rule (Planning Phase)

Effectiveness Vs. Efficiency Theory (Planning and Implementation)

Quantum Leap Approach (Planning)

A Final Word

REMEMBER

You don't manage time. There are only

24 hours in a day, and you have no

control over that.

You can, however, manage what you do

with those 24 hours.

ENGLISH SONG I LIKE MOST

If every word I said Could make you laugh
I'd talk forever

I asked the sky just what we had
It showed forever(together my love)

If the song I sing to you Could fill your heart with joy
I'd sing forever(together my love)
Forever, forever ...........................

I've been so happy loving you (together my love)
Let the love I have for you live in your heart
And be forever(together my love)
Forever, forever....................

I've been so happy loving you

If every word I said could make you laugh
I'd talk forever
Forever, forever

I've been so happy loving you

Poem: IN SEARCH OF...............

The rising sun says with it golden rays,
The ocean with it waves from the deepest trench,
The trees from their arms bench,
The wind of the driest desert,
Pave the way for us.

With start of day began the exploration of every being
Our search for goodwill and mind’s peace
Higher than sky are our aspiration
Stronger than mountains are our foundations
Spiritually pure than the heavenly bodies
Underlining the constellational unity
The river’s silent beauty
Deeper than the length of cosmos
We must seek to achieve our goals.

The music from its consciousness
Says never lose your deliberation.
Boost like sharp fire,
And as mild as ice.
The shadow from their darkest part
Never fall apart.
The blood from its deep
Never lose your color.
Mechanical as wheel and natural like water.

Life is a three sided mirror
One the world perceive of our
The other side is scene of the world,
And one we are.
This all stand on a two edged sword,
Good and evil.

Poem:The colors of festivals

We live life
And to add a little sweet and spice
We celebrate the not so special day
And make them special
Those are colors to life
Carnivals and festivals.

We hymn the god and for his nature,
For he gave us life,
And a miraculous nature to grow.
We celebrate the grey for our growth,
And the green for our prosperity;
And in this lot we enjoy a little eternity.

We celebrate the win of good over evil
In spring and in autumn too;
We rejoice and symbolize for
All time happiness.

Some colors are violet
These are for ones already on mother bed.
We remember our courageous
And cherish in their name, our freedom.
We celebrate our liberty
These are the saffron color of their sacrifice;
And the blue ocean of their wit,
For giving us democracy.

The life is never too short
To be colorized;
But few have moments to do so
And have few moments so
We should even live with small pearls
And not lose them for diamonds.
Both are de beers and priceless.

The true color is celebrated
When all this color makes up to white
The symbol of peace and harmony
And make for a great never ending festival of delight.

Poem:The Waves of Ocean

The waves of ocean
Are here to tell
If we are not there
You will not fall
If you don’t fall
You won’t inquire to me
How to grow against my fellows,
Stronger, wider and taller than me.

We were already made
As you were in the process of making
When we had it here
You were being given strength and mind to follow us.
If we are wide and numerous
You are concentrated and contiguous.

The floods and cyclones and the typhoons
Are the greatest tests for you
To make it count with your mind
That we are just liquid and you are glue.

Along with cyclones there are small breezes
To add to it we make it salty
We take pain to create them
So you don’t find hard to face the bigger one.

Always sail in every challenge-craft and hardship of life,
Because at the depth of ocean and above the limit of sky,
Sits the almighty
Creator and slayer of all,
Wants us to dig deep and soar high.

He is the smith
And make us our life’s architect.
Wanting us to remain intact,
And leave an impact
For someone to stand
A little taller on you
Deeming us as very small
Letting us know that you are not for us
And we are for you and all.

Poem:God bad but beautiful nature!

The night may be black,
But is not ugly;
As it is the only way,
Of arrival of another new day.

Orange autumn for trees,
Is not Phantom.
Because it make old leaves free,
So as to let them grow on a new tree

Death is not
The last moment of life.
Because it also lays a,
Start of another life.

Short and fat,
Are not only the bad people;
But beings with bad heart,
Are worst than animal.

Even the defeat in life is not bad,
Because one's defeat is others victory.

Greatest of human beings live forever.
As the Shakespeare says,
For life is a game
And all the world is a stage,
And we have a part to play

Poem From the heart of enemy

Long I had friendship but only once betray
And that was all to ruin all that was along the way.
The feeling was not so good but it had to be accepted,
Not for self-pride but for the sake of friendship.

The fight along the frontier is not just for my sake,
But for the well being of my other friends.
Friendship in my dictionary has not yet rubbed out,
But it has for one whom I befriended once.

Yet it feels like desert without even oasis,
And thorns without roses.
You may not feel good for me,
You may not feel sorry for me.
But someone is also friend also for me.

I also want to be friend,
By ending enmity.
I try hard,
But I think it is not in my destiny;
Will anyone be ever friend to me?

This not just for enemies,
But also for every friend;
Who feels that every enemy is not good,
And heart without.

DINESH AGARWAL
.

Poem:Friendship

Friend to me is nothing,
But you yourself;
Moreover, Friendship is nothing,
However, helping yourself.
If God have made one
Ever so perfect,
I would have found
Above not imperfect.

For God’s grace,
I have Two not one face;
One lie in me and
Bi in my friend’s heart.
If I am a book,
He is my preface,
Let me be the contents
He is then title.
He still knows more about me
And I only little.

God helps me all my life
Also giving me a friends’ delight;
To my little dark space,
By throwing rays of golden light.
He never direct give me advice
But I always find him
In my friend, nice and wise.

Sometimes comes in disguise and goes away
And don’t let me know of his way.
While doing all the things
That Alt he never flown;
I owe him great,
For he never let me alone,
For he helped me in my needs
And shares with me his deeds,
For he is my friend and let me be his friend,
Let this river of faith and love flow for celestial end.
